Sensei Dave Roth
Sensei Dave Roth

Our head instructor, Sensei Dave Roth, has more than 25 years experience studying and teaching the martial arts. A graduate of the University of Florida, he earned a degree in business administration in 1986. He holds black belts in six different martial arts, including karate, jujitsu, judo, kobudo, and close-quarter combat. Sensei Roth has used this extensive background to create the integrated curriculum that has made FKA one of the finest martial-arts academies in the world.

Martial Arts Background

Sensei Roth has achieved the levels of 5th-degree black belt in Seibukan Shorin-ryu Karate, 4th-degree black belt in Okinawan Kobudo, 3rd-degree black belt in Wado-ryu Karate, 3rd-degree black Belt in Hand-To-Hand Combat, 2nd-degree black belt in Niseido Jujitsu, and 1st-degree black belt in Judo. In 2003, the International Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do Association awarded him the title of Renshi. The AAU-USA National Karate Program also nationally certifies him as a Coach and Referee.

Positions Held & Honors Received

In additions to his duties as head instructor of Florida Karate Academy, Sensei Roth is the Region Four Director of the AAU-USA National Karate Program. He has also served as a International Team Coach for AAU-USA National Karate Program. In 2003, Sensei Roth was honored as the AAU-USA National Coach of the Year for his success in coaching athletes in national and international karate competition. In 2007, he received the President's National Leadership Award for service to the AAU National Karate Program
