Our Programs & Classes
Karate students and enthusiasts have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial-art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of the training. Weapons Training
FKA also offers comprehensive training in the classical weapons of Okinawa. Called Kobudo (ancient weapons) in Japanese, many of these weapons evolved over time from common agricultural tools. The Bo (staff) was used to carry buckets or as a walking cane. The Kama (sickle) was used to cut rice. The Eaku (oar) was used by the Okinawan fishermen to paddle their boats. The Sai (truncheon) was used by ancient policeman to defend against the sword. All of these weapons are taught as part of the FKA Kobudo curriculum.
